The Greater Shankill Partnership  is one of the five area partnerships in Belfast, it is a registered charity and it is tasked with the delivery of regeneration projects in the Greater Shankill area of Belfast.

Currently the partnership is responsible for the delivery of Neighbourhood Renewal, Early Years, Community Sports, Health & Wellbeing, Tourism, Arts & Culture

In June this year we opened a not for profit - Information Office and Craft Centre on the Shankill Road, the aim of which is to promote the area to visitors, portray the rich heritage of the area and change peoples perceptions about the area. We launched a  website last week which includes an online shop

The Shankill a Short History : The parish of Belfast...was formerly called Shankill which signifies the Old Church...

The Shankill a Short History

Our resident historian Bobby Foster has helped compile a brief history of events on the Shankill. We’ve kept the narrative short because we are hoping that ex-residents and the offspring of people who lived or worked on the Shankill will share their memories and photographs of the events and people of the area.

Many of the Shankill residents moved on to pastures new within N. Ireland and beyond, there is a significant Diaspora in the USA and Australia. We hope, through this website, to reach the emigrants and get their stories so as we can create a large database about the Shankill and it’s residents.
