Well folks the big winners on Saturday were LOL 157 Cowcaddens O&P District 11 and LLOL 241 Glasgow Southside District 49. The Grand Master was present when the random numbers were selected and the£1000 went to LOL 157 with the £500 to LLOL 241 congratulations to both lodges.
The Lucky Numbers initiative is to raise funds for to offset the costs of our Annual Boyne Celebrations. The cost for 2010 event at Glasgow Green was in excess of £16000 and that was with a reduction of around £10000. The the bill for 2009 was in excess of £8000 and again that was with a £10000+ reduction following a protracted fight to get it. There is no doubt that Glasgow City council will up the ante year by year and to pay out of the funds is unsustainable. the only other way is to charge the members "walking dues" every year.However the Executive of Grand Lodge would rather try and raise funds by other means before going to the members. the Lucky Numbers game wil, if we get the support go a long way to satify the aims and objectives. As you can see there is a couple of ways to subscribe.Each lodge should have a leaflet as depicted below but they can be had from Bob Sawers or any of the Executive. However, should it be that you do not wish to submit one of the forms for a direct debit or standing order, send a cheque for 1year (£48), 6 months (£24), or what ever perioid of subscription you desire. On receiving your subscription you will be allocated a number and you will be entered into the next draw. All payments should be made to Glasgow Orangefest and sent to the County Grand Secretary Robert Sawers, 01-32 Windsor Street, Glasgow,G20 7NA
This can only work if the members, families and friends support it.
